Project PARGO | Clean Water Project

Project PARGO | Clean Water Project

by sam steiner November 14, 2022

Alfresco is proudly partnered with Project PARGO to create our beloved insulated coffee cup and with this Pargo provides much-needed clean drinking water access to those who need it.

Project PARGO was born in the back of a camper where only the simplest things matter the most. The founders spent years living in some of the world's most remote and poverty-stricken villages - where they quickly learnt that clean water is life, and unfortunately, not everybody’s got it - here PARGO was born.

They are the designers of premium insulated drinkware here in Australia, built to take you beyond and last a lifetime. Every PARGO purchase has helped provide people in need access to clean water.

Fast forward to today where they are working on their biggest clean water project to date!

Visiting three unique locations over just two weeks to help provide clean water to the most poverty-stricken communities. They have just been in the Philippines to complete this project over 3 separate locations spread across all kinds of different environments. Throughout this venture, Project PARGO implemented 645 filters which as a result provided 17,530 people with access to clean water.

The first stop of their trip landed them in Palawan, Philippines a breathtaking part of the world, whilst the images on google do look like paradise, the reality is quite different on the island villages. The current water source is riddled with water-borne diseases mostly from mosquitoes and bugs. Within Palawan, they visited three different villages where they educated the importance of hygiene and sanitation, followed by demonstrations on how to use the filter and finally implemented 115 filters providing 3,270 individuals with access to clean water for the very first time.

The next stop on their clean water trip was the island of Siargao, another incredibly beautiful place with amazing villages and locals. Sadly this small island was severely impacted by typhoon Odette that hit last December - the destruction impacted the water quality even more than before, leaving communities in desperate need. Here the PARGO team implemented 210 filters having a direct impact on 5260 people and providing them with clean water.

The final destination of this venture found by the PARGO team is Pampanga, where the biggest implementation of the trip was with 320 filters were installed impacting 9000 people. Mineral water is available in this location, however, the locals struggle to afford it and are having to live off rations. These filters in particular will have a huge impact on the health and wealth of the community.

Here at Alfresco we love being partnered with companies who are actively making a change in communities that need it! Currently, to date we have officially ordered 531 units which all go towards these clean water projects!
