As a team, we take steps to make a positive impact on the industry at large by connecting with growing regions around the world. Guided by our passion for sharing quality coffee, our underlying focus is to improve farmers’ access to the resources needed to produce and receive a fair price for specialty-grade coffee.

COLOMBIA

Located in the north of South America, Colombia is known for its beaches, rainforests, and, of course, its coffee. It was love at first sight when we landed there for the first time in 2019.

In partnering with Cofinet, a Colombia-based company steeped in generations of coffee growers, we were introduced to local legend Mr Diofanor Ruiz and his pursuit of sustainable coffee agriculture. Mr Ruiz has since become one of our heroes in coffee growing and production.

Initially, this project involved funding new drying shelters on his farm, La Divisa, to allow a higher volume of naturally-processed coffee, eliminating the use of water in his processing.

From here, we helped build a laboratory that was worthy of Mr Ruiz’s exceptional coffees. We completed this project with Cofinet, purchasing Colombian Coffees from Mr Ruiz until 2024.

PHILIPPINES

Our project in the Philippines is a labour of love. We first travelled to the island of Negros in 2017 to help build a church and community shelter. We fell in love with the people and soon befriended the whole village. Working with the locals, we were quickly clued in on the many coffee plantations running through the mountains.

When approached by community elder, Roger, for advice on growing and producing coffee, we offered to lend a hand, both physically and financially.

To date, we’ve returned several times to help train our local friends on all things coffee, from growing, pruning, fertilising, and picking, to coexisting with the climate and heavily forested areas, and producing a shade-grown arabica coffee worth drinking.

While it’s still early days, we’re excited to build production and milling facilities in the region that will make for a smooth export to Australia.

We’re committed to seeing this project become a model plantation through which local leaders can facilitate training for surrounding coffee farmers to bring both employment and outstanding coffee to the region.

NICARAGUA

Our Nicaragua project involved teaming up with local coffee growers creating farmer-geared initiatives. Prior to our involvement, the main hurdle remote farmers faced was the strenuous six-hour journey by donkey required to transport coffee from the farm to the mill. We’re proud to have played a major part in the development of our partner production, from a tiny farm with a small harvest to a fast-growing coffee plantation, both in size and coffee quality. Our partners are now selling coffee to a broader network of international coffee roasters, which is exactly the success we envisaged for these guys!
